About the job:
As part of 50CAN’s national Growth team, the Director of Trainings will play a key role in developing, managing and occasionally delivering internal and external training programs. Internal programs include professional development curricula for staff, in-person symposia and other learning opportunities for 50CAN’s national and regional staff. Externally programs include the Education Advocacy Fellowship, the YouCAN fellowship, and other new and emerging advocacy training and leadership development programs. This position reports to 50CAN’s Vice President of Growth.
Act as primary project manager and point of contact for multiple training programs simultaneously. Ensure all programs are on-schedule and delivering high-quality content and support to emerging leaders and advocates.
Work with cross-functional partners to ensure programs are meeting all metrics, and supply content and multimedia to support grant proposals and reports to key funding partners.
Partner with VP of Growth to conceptualize, develop and implement new training programs across the network. Ensure that all new materials build upon programs and content that has already been created and tested, to ensure efficacy and cohesion.
Support and work directly with emerging leaders and advocates across programs, delivering training content and ensuring they feel engaged, supported and clear about program requirements and expectations.
Ensure buy-in and participation from internal 50CAN stakeholders, both at the national and state level. Deputize staff members to become faculty of training programs.
Create and manage a resource library that warehouses, organizes and open-sources all curriculum and programmatic materials across the organization.
Supports the creation and implementation of internal training programs, including: quarterly symposia, quarterly PD retreats, peer learning communities and monthly advocacy lectures.
Lead the creation and implementation of an innovative crowd-funding platform for us across multiple programs and geographies.
Track advocacy activities across the 50CAN network and capture key findings, knowledge gained and lessons learned for use in trainings programs.
Key skills, abilities and experience:
Five or more years of experience in a program management role
Proven skill set in leading and facilitating trainings, teaching, or facilitation of other leadership development programs
Excellent writing skills
Supremely organized; systems-thinker; exhaustive and unwavering attention to detail
Ability to lead with confidence and humility; enthusiastic collaborator
Sense of humor, “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude and willingness to do “whatever it takes”
Commitment to 50CAN’s mission, and to the idea that emerging advocates across the country require investment, respect and attention
Creative and entrepreneurial
Understanding of major issues in education policy and ability to talk and write about advocacy
Experience writing or contributing to grant proposals and reports
